Second- Now you need to play against McDavid/Draisaitl and Eichel/Stone/Pacioretty EVERY season just to get out of the division. If you do get out of your division in the playoffs, you have a Mackinnon led team likely waiting there for you.

Simply put- if we are all about winning the Stanley Cup, today is a dark day in Flames franchise history because I don't really see a way we get out of our division and then get out of the West to even make the Cup Finals. It doesn't even matter if we win 50 games in the regular season, playoff hockey is just different.
I think it's not the winning streak that is great, but how they're winning. The Flames have been the better team on the ice in almost each and every game they played. The Flames are dictating their style of play to their opponents and not the other way around. That is something I haven't seen in forever. The Flames used to always play down to the level of their competition.

Right now the way the Flames are playing looks to be sustainable over a season. Moreover, they are doing enough little things like working as a unit, having great gaps, putting sticks in the lanes, and backchecking hard that it should translate to the playoffs.

As long as the Flames don't beat themselves mentally, it looks like we have a decent playoff team on our hands.
