Never mind his intangibles and just using counting stats, since he entred the NHL as an 18 year old kid, he is the 6th leading point getter among LW's in the entire NHL, has drawn more penalties than any of them, is a complete 200' player who has gotten better each season in that department, and has bled Flames red since day 1. He battles in the hardest area of the ice every night and takes crap from no one.
Team had a bad season last year and he was a big part of that. He is also a big part of the resurgence this season.
If I was him and reading this stuff, I would want the hell out of town as well.
There is no one even close in the Flames system that would be able to replace him either.
Again, just do not get the nonsense about him.

Well here are some things I am not a fan of in Tkachuk:
- An increase in the amount of diving lately
- Between the leg passes in the neutral zone
- Over doing it after the whistle
- Quitting on the team last season
- Talking a big game, and not showing up in the playoffs
He is a very good player, and a very valuable one at that, but he is not the complete 200' package you make him out to be. I found his production to be largely missing in games where Flames absolutely needed a come back, but that can be said of just about anyone last season.
Finally he is judged based on his contract, and he is paid like the best player on this team, but he clearly isn't. Next season he will get paid even more than that and then there's a chance he simply walks as a UFA.
