I question those that claim to have insights into his mindset. I do think it's a fair question to ask but I am not seeing any evidence that it's a cause for concern.

It’s all about insurance. If this ADR goes sideways, Pegula doesn’t want to be on the hook for the rest of Eichel’s deal.
He’s worth $5.7B according to Google, and he won’t give a franchise player the autonomy to have a surgery that lets him keep the feeling in his fingertips.
I get that it’s easy to spend other peoples money, but consider this.
Imagine time is money, where $1 = 1 second.
The $50M owed to Eichel as of the start of the season = 578.7 days
Terry Pegula’s $5.7B = 180.75 years
It’s going to go down as a Hall of Fame self-own.
