Not an even comparison. The NHL was on the verge of disappearing in some cities including Calgary, so it was a matter of survival, not growth, for a number of years. I do think basketball has the best commissioner going in Stern. The NFL is a silly comparison though - I don’t know who could actually fail running that monster.
