The season is way too young for anyone to be making coach of the year award claims. This groups main problem is consistency and 8 games doesn't in the least qualify as a sample size worthy of wiping that slate clean.

Although I generally agree with this, part of the Flames' problem last year (and in general in the past decade) has been getting off to slow starts to the season and not having enough time to catch up at the end. The last time the Flames actually had more that five wins in the first ten games was in 2010-2011, and in most of those seasons they had a losing record in the first ten games.
