When it comes to Gaudreau and Eichel it really is a why not both for me at this point. We didn’t get our last big time winger in Iginla that true blue number 1 elite Center and I think it ultimately held those Iginla years from achieving the playoff success that it deserved to. Gaudreau is a completely different type of winger than Iginla and by no means am I saying he’s as good as or has proved as much as Iginla had up until this point but I truly feel a guy like Eichel would elevate Gaudreau into a 100+ point player and would ultimately set this team with all its other value contracts and strengths for some great success.
If we land Eichel I can’t see Johnny not extending which is why I understand all the smoke around the flames and Eichel. It’s the biggest thing this team has needed for years and years and while Lindholm is doing an admirable job right now a one two punch of Eichel and Lindholm as right handed centre’s is absolutely drool worthy.
Figure it out Brad, the majority of the fan base would and is for this acquisition and it would line up quite nicely with the new building as well. Having Eichel and Gaudreau in their primes to finish out the saddle dome and usher in a new arena would be magical for the city.
On top of all that the Mcdavid vs Eichel BOA storylines alone make this worth it, I’m hoping Trelivings patience pays off but at the end of the day he needs to pull the trigger on one of these players he’s been constantly rumoured to be interested in.
