I don’t understand how people are saying we’re gutting our roster if we trade for him.

In most cases I think it’s almost unanimous that it would include:

Monahan
Picks
Prospects
Wild card - 1 of Valamaki/Dube/Mangi

The only scenario I think we’re in any sort of trouble is losing Mangi, otherwise losing your 4th line centre who most here have written off and then 1 of our top 3 prospects and a good depth individual I think we’re fine.

Unless the flames draft in the top 1-3 in the next 5 years we’re never getting an Eichel, so either we give up some to get now or we lose him to a rival yet again.

Personally I hope we’re still in the mix with a package involving the above, otherwise I guess it’s not happening. Buffalo won’t be getting 2 A+ roster players plus prospects and picks anymore so that bogus Lindholm ask is laughable.
