After looking in to it more I believe you're right that I'm wrong. I remember hearing that regarding 'hill top to bottom elevation' standards at some point, but I must have misunderstood.

Do you know if there have been FIS World Cups out East in recent years? It would make sense if they if they had the same standards as the IOC.
