Eichel isn't helping any team for the majority of the season. Anything you move off your roster is going to create a hole. Likely a pretty big one, until Eichel is healthy.
I don't know what the recovery time is for his procedure, but how does 1/2 a season without a second line sound to those who want to pull the trigger? What prospects that we have left are going to be able to come in and play 2nd line minutes? - hell even 3rd line minutes would be a challenge for most of our pool - that's why they're not on the squad.
Potentially throwing a season away for future promise, when the assembled team already has not had the desired success under your tenure as GM also does not sound like a strong career move.
I don't think the team, nor the GM are in any position to entertain a trade for a guy who is going to miss a large portion, if not the entire, season.

This is a big concern. I think this is why most people are hoping the flames only include monahan + zadorov from the roster to make the cap work. Even giving up Monahan is a big piece. I know he’s playing further down the line up but he’s getting better every game so he has the potential to be back to full Moneyhands in a week or two. Not having that for the season could be tough. I guess you have to give something up to get something like Eichel - even an injured eichel.
