Sadly, in 2010 using gay/f#g as an insult was still fairly commonplace. I absolutely believe the rumors of homophobic slurs being thrown around after the Aldrich incidences. You see that photo screenshot and it just feels like the arena was rife with those kinds of exchanges.

Thankfully this latest generation coming up is being raised with very different beliefs and gen z's have been brought into a world of tolerance as the norm and discrimination as taboo. And frankly, it's a welcomed adjustment to society. And well overdue.

While young guys are generally less "macho" today in how they carry themselves, I'd say they are more educated than myself and my peers were, and it beats the hell out of the casual racism and homophobia that was associated with being a "macho" and "masculine" guy while I was growing up.

That was always the dumbest rite of passage for being cool or accepted back then. It was disgusting and looked terrible on people to behave that way. When I see and hear it today walking to the dome or on the train (generally by people older than I) I just sigh and roll my eyes.

And the people who behave that way still today typically excuse it with "people today are just overly sensitive and can't take a joke" or "#### em if they can't take a joke". But the more likely truth is these people who still behave this way are dinosaurs that stopped learning or growing beyond a certain point in their lives and are just too lazy or ignorant to try. And I mostly feel pity for them.

Exhibit A: that no good post a page back...
