Dom has created a statistical model that is very good at predicting game outcomes; it beats Vegas odds regularly.
His model is based on past performance (last 3 years weighted more to the recent).
His reputation is based solely on that. He is not a great hockey evaluator, and yes, he is a poster child for Eastern bias. The fact that he admitted that he didn't want to watch the Flames because of how they played last year says it all. If he wanted to be an evaluator he would want to watch all teams just to get the views. If he picks and chooses his games based on his preferences he is just a (Leafs) fan with a good proprietary statistical model.
