I guess the ambiguity is what makes these cases so difficult. I just have a really hard time with letting it slide and not only that, but giving the guy a reference, from a reputable NHL franchise to coach a High School hockey team!

You have to consider though the society we have lived in is only now starting to change. Used to be a man could rape his wife and that was fine. It was nobody's business but theirs.
I'm not trying to defend anyone here, trust me on that. I just don't think it's that unbelievable that no one would say anything. Even 10 years ago, which doesn't sound that long ago, is well before the Me Too movement became viral. Did you know it started in 2006 but didn't become viral until 2017? Remember, the guy left rather than getting investigated so to the team, there was only ever an accusation which was rug-swept. Why wouldn't they give a guy a reference? If there's no investigation, there's no proof.
