IMO the only reason you would not regret keeping Hanifin instead of trading him as a piece for Eichel is if Eichel never regained his full health and that kept him from being an elite #1C again.
I don't want to trade Hanifin in a package for Eichel, I'd rather keep him because he's an important part of our D core right now, but I don't think I'd let it stop me from acquiring an elite #1C in his prime.

Oh, I can think of other reasons for regret. For one, if Hanifin was moved, essentially decimating the Flames defence, it could realistically result in them finishing near the bottom of the NHL Standings. If the Flames won the Draft Lottery and had to surrender a pick for a franchise player to Buffalo I am certain there would be plenty of regret.
