Sutter has called Coleman-Backlund-Pitlick an ‘identity line’, which I think is a very good description. They epitomize the way he wants the team to play. The top-end skill is distributed among the other lines, but those three guys just get the job done. At present, you have to consider them the second line. At some point the remaining forwards will get it sorted out, and some other trio may jump up the lineup and push CBP down to third-line duties. That is what is known as ‘a good problem to have’. Good teams have more than six players fit to play in the top six.
With all that in mind, I don't object if you want to call Coleman a top-six forward.
