Trust me, I had done the same thing to my PS4 pro. PS4 isn't setup to take full advantage of an SSD.

Max 1080p 60 with improved load times isn't worth it in my opinion if you aren't planning on getting a new tv soon. You will be able to play all of the next batch of exciting games practically. If he was going to a 4k tv I would recommend the upgrade.
