Wow. Some people have to realise that life in other parts of the world is horrendous. If I was in a situation where I was living in a country where I was being persecuted, I would do practically anything to get out - and if that meant breaking the laws of a country (like Canada, or the US) in order to gain a chance at freedom, however small, I would do it.

To me, there is far too much anti-refugee sentiment. While there are some that abuse the refugee name and status, there are many who do not. We know little of the facts about the family's situation - perhaps too little to know what the real situation is. Their desire to improve their lives does not mean that they will be a burden upon our society.
