Blake Coleman making his return to NJ for the first time since being traded is not getting talked about enough. I’d expect some type of tribute video to be played for him during the game.

Hopefully Coleman’s arms are sore from his 8 shots on goal last night.

I still miss Coleman as a player. Our team could still definitely use him. He would be a perfect player on Hughes wing. Let Coleman do all the dirty work & all you need is a sniper on the line & it would be perfect.

See Calgary is a good example of a team that is hard to play against. They aren't throwing tons of big hits or gooning it up, but they are relentless on the puck carrier and constantly cutting off lanes.

What the #### is Severson doing on that Lucic goal? As a defenseman the only way you pinch in the neutral zone is if you have a backchecker covering far side
What an awful effort by not one, not two, but three devils. Bratt can’t handle a simple play in the neutral zone, Siegenthaler fans on the puck twice. And those two + Subban surround him in the slot but NONE of them get a stick on that shot enough to shut it down? If I’m Ruff I’m screaming at the boys on that play.
Typical Subban bull#### penalty in the offensive zone. How many times have we seen him make himself wide and trip someone with his skate? Almost same play he made on Reaves. Dumb, stupid, potentially dangerous. And McLeod… what an abysmal effort of shot blocking. Get in the lane. Bodies in shooting lanes, sticks in passing lanes.
Bratt again can’t handle a puck. Dougie’s pinching because hey, #63 can handle a puck, right? Wrong. Also would’ve liked to see a litttttle more from Ty Smith on the backcheck. He pumps the breaks early.
Just an all around ####ing brutal period.

Goals:
- Lucic breakaway - Daws gives up the five hole; probably wants that back
- Mangiapane outworks Siegs - I bet that's a tough one for Daws who is not expecting a high blocker shot when the player is tied up
- Lindholm PP - bad clearances and coverage as usual on the PK; deflection 1 ft from the goal; not much he could do
- Mangiapane breaks ankles - Wedgewood, just got used and abused on Bratt's skating flub

More worrying is that the Devils did ZILCH...nothing in Calgary's zone. That was not a neutral zone mess that saw both teams stuck in the mud. That was...A NHL team against a team that was heavily medicated.

What a treat for Calgary. 3rd game in 4 days and destroy the will of their opposition in 10 minutes. Now, they can cruise the rest of the way. Hell, they could even wheel out Lanny McDonald the rest of the game and not sweat it for a second.

Without a doubt, the worst period of "hockey" I have seen from this franchise in many many years.

I'm actually a fan of Sutter and would say its far too early to make that pronouncement. Sutter for sure is better than what preceded him, and maybe he gets this club to overachieve for awhile, but I don't see it lasting too long. Its still the Calgary Flames lineup. They're getting a ton of puck luck and as per usual benefit of NHL officiating. Teams are playing like garbage against them because nobody really figures the Flames are much.

As much I want to throw up saying it, the Flames look good... Kind of strange how Tkachuk Monahan and Gaudreau aren't doing anything but Lindholm and Mangiapane are the ones driving the bus now. It's working nicely for them so far. That team is unbearably lucky. If they can keep this up who knows? We might have a BoA playoff round in the spring... and I would not survive watching it. lol

Sorry, but one of the unwritten rules about being an Oilers fan is you don't ever say anything nice about the Flames. Under any circumstances. Ever.
