This is going to be a major issue for anyone involved in left wing thought. Relativism vs. absolutism and competing human rights. For example, how do you reconcile religions of minority groups vs. LGTBQ rights. Do you just demand that they modernize their religions? How do you go about enforcing that?

I think you're right about that. It's also about power structures in society, or class-division put another way. Trans rights, and more generally LGBTQ+ rights, are moving forward quickly (and I approve greatly). But larger societal structures largely remain unchanged - the poor largely stay poor, the disadvantaged largely remain disadvantaged.
