The core theme of the rest of the books, and the series as a whole as described by Herbert is "charismatic leaders should come with a warning label: could be dangerous to your health". It's quite essential to the story as a whole that Paul is NOT a hero, even though it's not that obvious in the first book.

And this is super relevant to today's world and politics (as it always is). However being a faithful adaptation of the book's structure means that this lesson (which we should remember in our bones!) means viewers will have to read between the lines a bit.

It's funny I read a review that said that Paul's visions of the future (being stabbed, not stabbed) were like Dr. Strange's possible outcomes in Endgame. It's funny how Dune was prescient (har har) in even establishing this ideas that are recycled in modern media.
