Not sure what legal options they have, but if his argument is that the fusion surgery is more likely to require multiple additional fusions throughout the rest of his life, then I can certainly see the argument.

Then his problem is with the NHLPA for giving the medical right to the teams. He had a right to get a second opinion and apparently the board of doctors for the league disagree, or more likely support the proven surgery recommended.
