Just watched Dune. Loved it, especially the performances by Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson (his mother). I thought it had the right mix of epic scale mixed with nuance and world/character building. You feel transported to an authentic world that doesn't seem ridiculous the way a lot of sci fi does when you first encounter the world built. They do a good job of making you care about the characters, even though the first half of the film is a little stiff.

As always with Villeneuve and Zimmer, the aesthetics, costumes, cinematography, and score are top notch, although I felt the score could have been a little more interesting at times.

My wife, who knew literally nothing about this before seeing it, and isn't necessarily a huge sci fi fan, said she enjoyed it quite a bit and is looking forward to the next part.

I give it a 9.5/10.

I just watched it today. I liked it but it was really slow for the first 45 mins. Easily could have chopped 30 mins off that 2 hours 30 minute movie.
