If Monahan disappears from the play completely then it gives them a brief power play when they already have sustained possession.
I know some of you are saying he could be back in 10 sec, but defending a team with possession and huge momentum, 10 seconds feels like an eternity. Now with a brief 5 on 4 I think they’re worse off in my opinion.
Also, if Lucic just makes a simply play to clear the puck instead of try to dangle a guy, that would have been ideal too

I think if you ran the math on those 10 seconds in 1000 simulations it would come out heavily to go get a stick.
By staying it's a powerplay anyway but it could go 20 or 30 or more seconds.
