I don’t expect any of these young players to be at McDavid’s level in terms of offensive production but Lamberts skating and his style of play is very similar to McDavid’s. If anyone watches his highlights, you’ll see what I mean. If he translates that skill to the pro game I think he’ll be a superstar for sure. He could end up being one of the best players at making skilled moves with the puck at top speed in the league along with McDavid and McKinnon.
Obviously he’ll have a long way to go and a slow start to his draft year could be an indication of otherwise. Though I always find it hard to assess production of young players in Liiga. Some guys produce well and it doesn’t translate to the pro game while others don’t produce very well just because they’re playing against men at a young age. Then a year later they are showing well in the NHL simply because they have a year of growth/development/experience.
