As stated many times before, Monahan/Valimaki/Pelletier/protected first, is exactly what Buffalo asked for in terms of value. The reason that there is no movement is because Adams thinks that he can get a potential first line centre out of the deal (Zegras/Rossi/Krebs). Rightfully, all of those teams are saying no.

The only reason Monahan is in the conversation is because cap needs to move the other way, and Monahan isn't going somewhere for free. Whether it's directly to Buffalo, or through a third team to fit Sean's NTC, either way he is a movable asset with another centre coming in.

Monny may be a solid 2nd line centre.

He will need to prove that due to his injuries. Until he does that, teams will view him with suspicion. And rightfully so.
