YAY! We have an official release date for
Star Trek XI... what a great CHRISTMAS present it will be!
Christmas Day 2008 will see the return of Star Trek to the big screen.
Star Trek XI will be a prequel, or a "reimaging" as the writers are calling it, and we will likely see the return of the characters Jame T. Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Dr. McCoy, etc. The movie will be based before the original Star Trek series.
J.J. Abrams will direct and produce
Star Trek XI. He is well known for writing, producing, and directing TV series LOST as well as for his work on TV series Alias and the Mission Impossible: III movie.
The movie will actually likely be titled simply "Star Trek", according to the writers (
Roberto Orci,
Alex Kurtzman).
Apparently Paramount has opened the vault for this film as well, as the writers have said that this film will have the largest budget and most action of any Star Trek to date.
