Conroy's been in the league. Heck, he WAS that guy who performed totally differently in a different role (St. Louis #3C vs Calgary #1C). He's a few months removed from TRADING a guy away who performed totally differently in a different role (after coach after coach - including Sutter's brief stint - refused to try it). He's obviously aware of successful organizations who do things the way he described, as someone whose job it is to watch virtually every game everywhere.
Honestly, the fact that there is (yet again) a disconnect on player evaluation between management and coaching philosophies is baffling.

There is no disconnect. He was asked about disappointments and said - like any Asst GM would - it would have been nice to see more of the kids. He then went on to explain exactly why Sutter did what he did.
