Eichel IS elite right now. What's the worst that happens? Pelletier and Zary turn into impact players? There's probably a 5-10% chance at that.

Monahan
Zary
Pelletier
Valimaki
Unconditional 2023 1st

That's fair imo

Monahan isn't nearly as good as Eichel and I'm a huge Monahan guy. Basically I'd rather have eichel-Lindholm-backlund as the top 3 Cs. Lindholm and Backlund are more well rounded players and slot better in 2C/3C than Monahan does

Valimaki hasn't really impressed me at all. I think the injuries really set him back and the flames were probably overrating him before that anyway. I see 4/5 as his ceiling, maybe 2nd line pp qb for a weaker team.

Zary and Pelletier are good prospects for sure but not blue chippers. Look at the history of flames in the 1st round last 20 years. Yeah, excuse me if I don't pencil them in for stardom. The odds are crazy stacked against them. If everything went perfectly right you are probably looking at konecny or Fiala level players. That's if all the stars align. More likely we are looking at a couple of 3rd liners and honestly given the percentages, wouldn't be the worst thing ever. Most flames 1sts end up being nothing at all

Eichel's eichel though. If you can add a true 1c for beans, you gotta try, and don't get caught up trying to squeeze 5% more value. I feel like Brad probably plays it too safe or maybe is too coy or maybe he just plain overrates his prospects because what we have are basically a couple 6's in a sea of 3's. Not sure what it is but it's time for treliving to seize the day. His job depends on it because as is, this team is just gonna get him fired. He's made 2 great trades in 7 years. He destroyed Carolina basically. Now thats hard to do, but he has proven he can do it. This is like Hamilton x5 though. Legacy defining ####. I'd be so excited if I was him

I agree with most of this, but I would rather the pick be in 2022 and not 2023.
Especially if it's unconditional.

But yes, I think Coronato is a tier above Pelletier, Zary and Valimaki in terms of value.

It would hurt to trade all of them, but at least Coronato and Wolf would still be in the system. And Eichel himself is still fairly young. So is the defense in general.
