Even Sam's big storyline was triggered by a message of disappointment from his dad.
Really only Roy hasn't had an issue with his own dad...but then all of his character growth has been centered around him being the father figure for his niece.

My guess is Mr. Kent enters the fray at some point. Unless he's dead. Which is a whole different issue, and obviously one he and Ted could bond over.
I'm glad Nate is out, Roy was always the best choice as coach.

Totally. To see stone cold Kent so worked up about Jamie, and then nothing for Nate who arguably had a worse offense. He's nothing. A joke.
