They don’t want to be good for 2-3 years. With Eichel or without him. They have baselined offers with nothing. can now share info and add to the price, as you alluded. Then hope timing adds again for playoffs.
If not now other teams will be interested in the summer. If I were them I’d assume Eichel will waive his no trade for a chance to play. Pretty good bet.
If no one meets their price and Eichel sits the next 2 years they lose nothing but some cash.

Oh there is reason. Pat Brisson is the advisor for Owen Power.
“Screw around with Jack for the whole year and take away his ability to get healthy and a year of his prime and there is no way I can advise my future client to sign with your franchise.”
That also sends a horrible message to any other player that would consider signing there.
