The part about Gaudreau's been discussed already so I just want to focus on the other part.
Tkachuk literally can't do this. He's RFA. Team control.
If he wants a 1 year deal he can waste his final RFA year without a contract pouting, but I don't suspect it will come to that. If he really wants out, Winnipeg has provided the blueprint for handling this situation with Trouba, signing a long term contract with a handshake deal to move him, and then later dealing the player for a favorable return
I am constantly baffled by how the fanbase talks about the Tkachuk situation like we just have to let him go or get the absolute worst case result.
