SJ could pull it off, but it would mean very little to them if Hertl is going the other way. They're already declining, and future looks bleak in the period of Eichel's remaining term. They were already handcuffed by an awful cap structure and getting reprieve from Kane's cap hit is a huge blessing to them. They need the flexibilty badly, so filling that gap with Eichel money makes absolutely zero sense.
They're not an Eichel away from doing anything currently, so while it is possible if they pushed their chips in with Hertl, it makes no sense in their ~5 year outlook.
