He’s definitely not as profound or intelligent as Carlin. I’ve also read some highly critical responses to his positions that tear his ideas to shreds, and rightfully so.
I think the problem is that he’s gone from comedy to philosophy/beliefs but whenever someone criticizes his beliefs, he shoots them down, weaponizes his fan base and uses the “its just comedy” defence as a shield.
Because if we really break it down, most of his arguments are weak, borderline stupid, but the comedy part is funny.
He also seems extremely hung up on the topic, dedicating what? Half is special towards it? He seemed more than defensive, he was clearly on full tilt. I don’t think he should be getting angry when people challenge his ideas, which he claims go beyond comedy but only when convenient.
He’s also really good at playing the victim card. I wish he’d focus on things that are important to him, like issues in the black community, rather than attack the LGBTQ community repeatedly.
That being said, I enjoyed the special and find that the lgbtq community is giving him exactly what he wants when they act like victims and simultaneously call for him to be cancelled. Probably best to take the high road on this one.
