I think it's an option for D to play their offsides and if Tanev/Zadorov look poor today, I suspect they start looking at that.
I doubt it's Valimaki in the top 4 so probably Kylington and Valimaki flip flopped as you suggested.
Valimaki needs get a lot quicker with making good decisions both with and without the puck in the D-zone before he'll be trusted to move up the line-up IMO. The best place for him to get that experience is in the bottom pair playing against the other teams weaker players.
The great news about Valimaki is he has a really good mind in the O-zone and we definitely need more of that from that back-end.
