For regular season I liked the runner on second. With 162 games, and many of these games already dragging on for over 3 hours they do need to find ways to avoid these 16 inning regular season marathons. Pitch clocks and automated home plate umps, might move things along a bit better, but the modern game is to try and make pitchers throw 9 pitches per at bat until the guy makes a mistake that you can knock out of the park or you manage to lay off 4 pitches out of the zone.
It would be interesting to compare the number of pitches thrown in a game today vs a game from 35 years ago. The days of these Greg Maddux 90 pitch complete games seem so far gone.
