I’m going to the Flames/Jets game on November 27th.

All five of us are fully vaccinated. The QR scanning app for validating our provincial vaccination cards should be available by November to reduce or prevent people with fake ones getting in and, if the Saddledome staff are doing their jobs, virtually everyone in the arena will be fully vaccinated too, save for kids under 12 (really hoping the 5-11 shot gets approval before then).

Fully vaccinated people are less likely to have COVID-19 to begin with, and if someone is asymptomatically infected they’re less likely to pass it on. If we assume the Saddledome’s vaccinated population will reflect the demographics of Alberta, then this is basically a test of ~85% herd immunity (likely better than that even), which ignores that there are probably a lot of people who won’t take their under-12 kids to a game if they aren’t vaccinated out of an abundance of caution.

I appreciate where Fuzz is coming from, but the risk just isn’t there. The game is also just shy of two months out, a lot can and should improve by that point.
