Don’t know if many people noticed but Zadorov tried to step up for a second monster open ice hit later in the game and just missed. It was going to be even bigger than the the first one had he connected. The way he was lining it up was super reminiscent of the young Phaneuf hits. In fact, it was not exactly a great play because it put him out of position and almost lead to an odd man rush (also somewhat similar to young Phaneuf hits) but there was a strong backcheck from the flames’ forwards so nothing came of it.
