Thinking back to the situation I am now rethinking it. Going into the inning you have to stay with him but the real mistake is not having someone warmed up to come in. I'm not an expert but could this been an issue? How long does it take a pitcher to warm up who may or may not go multiple innings? I just can't see why you would not switch him after the back to back home runs and the average the third time through the lineup.
