Of course some it is on the player, but when you don't reward him for strong play you break the relationship between player and team. There were plenty of nights where he didn't look good, like plenty of other players on the roster. I'll always argue that no good organization handles a 4th overall pick/player like Bennett the way the Flames did - it was just a bad organization showing itself for what it is.
Bennett is a good player to look at and see how far Calgary as an organization is from being championship quality. If you look at how the Flames eroded that asset and compare it with how Tampa handled Jonathan Drouin - that's the difference between the Flames and a Championship quality team. I'd also argue that Bennett is a better player than Drouin, yet Tampa figured out it was time to move on from Drouin while the gettin' was still good and maximized the return.
On Peters - lost the team about 60 games into the season and never got it back. I absolutely think Peters is a bad coach, and it showed in those playoffs. He squandered a talented team.
