Positives:
-Pospisil played hard and well and I think helped his cause compared to last night. He plays as advertised being a bigger guy with speed who plays physical and has a touch of skill. Picked up an assist and was also the screen in front on the play. Exactly what you want a guy like him doing.
-Dube was very noticeable and mostly for good reasons. His speed is elite out there. Showed a hard and accurate shot on his goal.
-Kylington was the best D on the Flames in my opinion. Some great plays with the puck, he also broke up some plays when he was on the penalty kill. The team transitions so much better with him on the ice than with Valimaki or Stone for example. I liked him on the powerplay too. Also picked up an assist.
-Mackey and Desimone were pretty good at times as well. Mackey with a good decision to put a puck on net and picked up a goal.
Negatives:
-Pelletier, Philp, Phillips were really ineffective
-Stone and Valimaki really struggled out there. Not awful throughout but I don't think that either of looked like they should be in the starting line up. Stone made some really bad decisions that lead to odd man rushes against.
-Ritchie is so frustrating. As a 13th forward he doesn't do much harm, but a guy like Pospisil or even Duehr would be preferable for me.
I don't think many bubble players helped themselves tonight. Certainly not enough to dislodge UFA vets that were brought in late in the summer.
