I hear you but IMO that is a different issue. And i’d argue that teams spending big on stars have the bigger advantage in shorter series, but obviously randomness comes into it then to a greater degree.
Force these bottom teams to start spending money? Count me in. Have a salary floor spread over a few seasons maybe. But having more demand in the playoffs just allows for more randomness, it doesn’t fix the spending disparity.
I prefer a baseball season over a baseball tournament always. Which IMO is not the same for sports like hockey or basketball.
