Relevant to the thread: current councillor and mayoral candidate Jeff Davison spoke about his 6-year-old daughter having her surgery delayed because of reduced hospital capacity:
Quote:
During a heated city council debate Wednesday, the Ward 6 councillor said his family received a notice from Alberta Health Services last week that their six-year-old daughter’s kidney surgery would be delayed.
“Anyone who thinks that this is a joke, that we should continue to not think about the outcomes, that our hospital system can handle it: wake up, wake up,” he said.
Davison made the remarks at a special meeting where council passed a vaccine passport bylaw that will require certain businesses and facilities to ask patrons for proof of COVID-19 vaccination, closing loopholes left under provincial rules.
Council voted 13-1 to pass the bylaw which comes into force Thursday. Coun. Jeromy Farkas was the lone dissenting vote and his arguments against the bylaw provoked a passionate rebuke from Davison Wednesday.
