I'm not denying there is an industry around it. These magazines and website want to sell their products.
I just think it is pointless. There is no viable metric to measure off-season success. It is an exercise in speculation and emotion.
I'm not suggesting we shouldn't discuss it or have opinions about it, but to simply declare it a failure before any hockey is played seems bizarre. If the Flames end up having a good season is the off-season still a failure?
