At this point, they have no reason to want to stay long term and he can't force them to. I doubt that he is playing hardball with them. They likely just don't want to sign on, and I can't blame them for that. I don't think it has anything to do with him not believing in them.

If that's the case they should've been dealt this summer or last season.
Gaudreau had a good year, still has value and Tkachuk has very high value, and the season does nothing to change that.
So the talk about dwindling value or whatever holding back trades must've been in regards to Monahan.
I'm willing to bet one is in on board to sign long term, but won't take any kind of discount. It's hard to say who. But I don't see both 100% intent on going elsewhere.
