Doesn't matter how we got here, but if I am Gaudreau, I am not signing until I see what the rest of these high profile RFAs sign for. He might be able to get anywhere between 0.5 - 1.5 million more per season after this, possibly.
I really believed that Treliving wouldn't drop the ball on this negotiation, and that if they were far apart, that Gaudreau would have been traded before his NTC kicked-in. I feel like perhaps I am wrong here. I figured Johnny was too busy with the wedding, and that the Flames also wanted the photo-op of the GM and Player sitting down to put ink to paper as part of the release as seems popular these days.
Hopefully he signs a deal shortly. Gaudreau is really the only 'electric' player on this team that is a real treat to watch on many nights. He has all the leverage now it seems, so I guess we will see how it plays out. It doesn't feel good at the moment, but I won't scream that the sky is falling just yet.
