I still think he's a great pbp guy, and to be honest, he's been mostly impartial IMO. Some people tend to have rose coloured glasses (or earbuds?) on when talking about a pbp guy. If the pbp guys isn't talking glowingly about the team they're cheering for, they automatically get labelled a "so and so" homer.
This is all just speculation on my part, but it does feel like the whole pandemic situation may have had something to do with it. It could be he was or someone close to him was affected by Covid, and made him re-evaluate what's important, or maybe it's cost cutting from Rogers. Either way, a bit sad to see he didn't get a proper send off before retiring.
