Gio noticeably lost foot speed last season and was making up for it with positional play. Which you can usually do until you come up against players like MacKinnon or mcdavid.
The league is getting faster and younger every year. Gio wasn’t doing either of those. His leadership will definitely be missed. But I think we won’t have as much of a drop off on the ice as a few on here seem to think.
The new adds like Zadorov and Gudbranson, as well as Stone, bring and added layer of physicallity that this team has been sorely lacking for a number of years. I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do.
