Devin Defraine is a no for me as he has previously worked with the Wildrose party.

I'm in Ward 11 too, and it's awful... My run-down:
Vance Bertram - self-professed "Principled Conservative"
- Bring back fiscal conservatism

- Stand up for families and family values

- End the non-stop bickering

- Stop stifling local businesses with excessive taxes and regulation

Verdict: fool full of empty rhetoric about taxes and "fiscal conservatism"; that's a no from me, dawg
Kourtney Branagan - "experienced and collaborative leader"
- investment in community spaces, parks, city buildings

- make better decisions "driven by data and innovation"

- will "balance the interests of all who live and word in Ward 11"; promote "active listening, intentional dialogue, and thoughtful engagement"

- former president of the Haysboro Community Assoc.

personal anecdote: heard secondhand from people who used to deal with her at the Federation of Calgary Communities that she's a conniving, busy-body C-you-next-Tuesday; not sure how much stock I put in that
Verdict: platform full of politician soundbite claptrap; will probably do well
Devin DeFraine - "Fighting for You!" (against whom...?)
- Using fiscal responsibility to prevent excessive property and business taxation

- Opposing the abolishment of single family dwelling (R-1) zoning

- Promoting recall legislation for municipal politicians

- Supporting public safety

Verdict: Jeromy Farkas-esque dip####
Lauren Herschel- "need to focus on taking steps to strengthen our economic health, continue to look for ways to innovate, and run the City’s operations more efficiently"

- balanced, scalable and sustainable growth in both established areas and new communities

- need to invest in programs, services and projects with a forecasted positive return on investment; transit, amenities and infrastructure

- "will engage in open, transparent two-way engagement with stakeholders"

Verdict: business experience in marketing, and it shows (read into that what you will); doesn't seem to be an ideological nutbar, so she's got that going for her; used to work at BILD Calgary—got the developers in her back pocket?
Mike Jamieson - "It's time for change at City Hall!"
- "will leave my agenda at the door and serve your interests above all"

- will "Bring a New Voice To Council"

- advocate for term limits

- director, Progressive Group for Independent Business (PGIB), Craig Chandler's political organization

Verdict: PGIB/"Take Back City Hall"-slate dip####
Geoffrey Vanderburg- responsible spending; need to balance priorities

- Council must work together, councillors must strive to be non-partisan

- crime prevention through proactive community policing

- supports Greater Downtown Plan, investment in "vibrant City Centre and economic strength"

- supports Green Line

- supports investing "in affordable housing, youth programs and community services"

- former president of Lakeview Community Association, resigned three years ago when "Save Lakeview" lobby group—who wanted access to Tsuut'ina reserve/Grey Eagle Casino cut off—did an end runaround to add members to the LCA board

Verdict: respect him muchly for walking away from toxic Save Lakeview idiots, otherwise not sure about him; appreciate that he takes a stand for the Green Line and Greater Downtown Plan
Rob Ward - "Collaborative, Fiscally Responsible"
- "City Council needs change"

- will "work for YOU, and he wants to ensure YOUR voice is heard and YOUR money is working for YOU"

- "fiscal responsibility": "starts with a relentless approach to evaluating every dollar spent"

- "time to end the divisiveness and cliques at City Hall"

Verdict: cookie-cutter copy of Bertram, DeFraine and Jamieson
The only ones even worth considering are Branagan, Herschel and Vanderburg, in my opinion.
