The kick return touchdown should make a comeback in the Canadian Football League this season with a rule change that will (0) bring back blocking from the side.
The board also approved new roughing penalties against (1) hitting players already on the ground, (2) making "horse collar" tackles by grabbing a player's shoulder pads and (3) hitting long snappers above the shoulders.
Quarterbacks will get extra protection from rules banning (4) hits below the knees and (5) leading with the helmet when hitting the passer.
Another rule bans (6) the "snap down" into a two or three-point stance by an offensive lineman to try to lure the defence offside.
Other new rules were aimed at eliminating deliberate fouls intended to (7) run down the clock and penalizing teams for (8) kicking the ball out of bounds.
