2017 - 2019 were devoid of draft picks, with 2017 and 2018 the biggest issue in the current timeline with only Valimaki making the grade. No 2nd and 3rd in 2017, and no 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the 2018. That's five reasonably high value picks that could have produced say one more player on the current roster.
But 2019 only has three players in the entire draft with a full traditional season of hockey in them, 2020 has none. So the Flames aren't really behind in any of the last three drafts as of yet.

Agree with devoid of picks point. Jury still out on how they did with the picks they had.
