If Treliving thinks that Gaudreau takes this team to a Cup eventually, then he has to re-sign him. If not, then re-signing him would not be a great move. I’m personally on the fence with Gaudreau. I don’t know if he is or isn’t the guy.

If Tre didn’t think Johnny was a fit for this team then he would have traded him before his NMC kicks in. My biggest concern this off season has been what is going to happen to Johnny. I do not want the flames to get into a situation where if in a playoff spot come deadline, they keep him if not signed for a playoff push. I have heard Tre say before with other expiring contracts that getting full cap hits off the books , without trading said player, is a value in itself. Flames do not have a good prospect pool and cannot afford Johnny leaving for nothing. They better sign him before season starts or I’m going to be choked.
